Year 7 Easy Fundraising

SJWMS Letter image

Dear Parent / Guardian,

As we start the new school year I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some information about how you can support the school financially at absolutely no cost to yourself. In 2016 the school founded the 1701 Society, so called because that was when Sir Joseph Williamson left the bequest that founded the school. This is a registered charity with the charitable objects of raising money to support the children at the school. It does so by asking for monthly donations from alumni or their families. It has raised more than £60,000 for the school since its inception and we very much hope that in future years your son may like to join. More information can be found on the website https://1701society.co.uk/

The purpose of this letter is to ask you to support the 1701 Society, for free, by using the easyfundraising app or website to do your online shopping. You can do this through the following link: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/1701-society and register, or you can download the app from your app store. When asked what cause you want to support type ‘1701’ and search then select the 1701 Society.

All you then need to do is shop through the app and it will generate donations that come direct to the school. Both app and website are free to use and your online shop does not cost any extra. Even things like groceries, holidays and insurance can be purchased this way and raise considerable donations for the school.

We currently have about 120 users who have raised money for the school last academic year totalling nearly £1,000. If even half of the school’s nearly 1500 pupils’ families were to do this it would generate a huge amount of income for the school. It only takes moments to set this up and it could not be easier to use.

I fully appreciate that starting secondary school is an expensive business but this is a way that you can support us financially at no cost to yourselves. We would be very grateful if you would consider it.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. E. Hodges
