This section gives an outline of all the compulsory and optional subjects (courses) that are available and also the arrangements for making your choices. You and your parents are strongly advised to read it thoroughly, as the information contained is relevant to the decisions that are to be made. Before making these important decisions, you should bear in mind that an aptitude for, and interest in, the chosen subject areas are essential if the end results are to be a true reflection of your ability. Similarly, consideration should be given to any specific career aspirations which are known at this stage. Whilst most careers require a good balance of subjects, some professions, such as medicine, veterinary science, architecture and design, may need study in specific areas, and so the subjects chosen – and those not chosen – can have a bearing on future career plans.

If, after reading the information in this section, you think that you require further guidance, please make sure you contact Mr Coate, Head of Middle School, so that an appointment can be made with the most appropriate person. Your subject teachers and pastoral staff are available to help you make your choices at this important point in your school career.

Clearly the decisions you are about to make are very important and may influence both Sixth Form study and career choices. As such, you and your son should feel free to consult with Mr Coate (Head of Middle School), Mrs Manchaud-Green (Head of Lower School), or his Form Tutor. The following timetable outlines the options procedure which will provide detailed information to enable you and your son to make well informed decisions.
