Dear Parent / Guardian
At the start of a new school year I am delighted to write to you and share some exceptional outcomes that have been achieved by our students in this summer’s public exams.
Whilst there is no progress 8 measure this year because outgoing year 11 did not do SATs at the end of their primary education, pupils performed exceptionally well by all other measures. 56% of all grades were at 7-9, just 1% below the record set in 2024. 97% of students achieved a good pass (grade 4) in English and mathematics, while 94% gained a strong pass (grade 5) in both subjects. The average grade per GCSE course taken by the students is 6.7, which was just 0.1 below the record of 2024.
A level results were also exceptional and were the highest ever for a normal exam year. 45% of all grades awarded were at A*-A, up from 44% in 2024 while 74% of all grades secured by these senior students were at A*-B level the highest ever. The average points per subject, a measure of the typical grade per A level, is 42.1, the second highest on record. Very pleasingly, the Level 3 value added measure, which measures the improvement from GCSE to A Level, which was already the highest of any Kent or Medway state school in 2024 is anticipated to rise from 0.34 to 0.39. There were some exceptional individual performances with 26% of the year group getting nothing lower than an A and 55% of the year group avoiding any grade lower than a B.
Whilst I would congratulate our students on their hard work and fantastic achievements outlined here I would also recognise that for some, the completion of their courses represents success in itself and for many there are a vast number of achievements outside of the academic field that should also be recognised. I am very grateful to parents and staff for their unwavering support of both the pupils and the school.
Yours sincerely
Mr E Hodges | Principal
