Earlier this year, former SJWMS student Ruben Stanislaus starred in his first Praga Cup debut at Donington Park. The budding Formula 1 star and his racing partner, Lewis Appiagyei, were later invited to meet Sir Lewis Hamilton after he heard about their impressive racing record. The pair have been racing since the age of four, winning hundreds of trophies between them.
Ruben is an instructor at Silverstone Race track, races cars for Praga, and teaches once a month at Arden Race School.
He recently contacted Learning Support Assistant, Valentina Lewis, to proudly update her on his life since leaving The Math. During Sixth Form, Ruben was a Subject Prefect for Art and Spanish, and was referred to as ‘a polite and helpful member’ of his form group, who made ‘a very good contribution to the wider life of the school’.
Ruben and Lewis also filmed a fly-on-the-wall documentary with the BBC about their racing journey. ‘We Are England: Born to Race’ will follow Ruben’s progress since finishing his A Levels in June of 2022. The documentary was filmed over 8 months and includes his race in The Praga Cup National Championship, where Ruben was awarded Driver of the Day.
‘We Are England: Born to Race’ will air on BBC One, Friday 25th November 2022 at 7:30pm.
