Arrangements for Last Week of Term

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to provide you with some information regarding COVID arrangements for the final week of term. As I am sure you are aware, the government guidance has changed as of 19th July and therefore I felt it necessary to contact you to outline what this means for the school for the final week of term.

Given the timing and circumstances, as well as the case rate in the local area we have decided that we will not be making any adjustments to our precautions for the final week of term. We feel that by continuing to operate as we are we have the best chance of protecting both our students and staff and see no reason to change this for the last five days of term. Therefore I would ask that pupils continue to attend with a mask which should be worn as they move between classes. I would also ask that pupils continue to wear masks on public transport if they use this to get to school. We will continue with our operation of separate year groups and one way systems and will continue to provide plentiful hand sanitizer. The only thing that will change in the last week is that schools are no longer responsible for contact tracing for any positive cases, this will instead be handled by the NHS test and trace team. We are yet to be informed as to exactly how this change will manifest itself.

Whilst very little will change for the last week of term our anticipation is that schools will be able to operate broadly normally in September. However, we all know that the situation can change very rapidly and therefore we will contact parents nearer the start of the autumn term to confirm expectations and arrangements. I would once again take the opportunity to thank parents for their support of the measures the school has put in place.

Finally, as is usual we will have a slightly early finish on the last day of term, Friday 23rd July with pupils released at 1.20pm.

Yours sincerely,

Mr E Hodges
